Aug 15 - Mr Roger's Neighborhood

When terror strikes near your home, you worry. When you are too far away to help, you spend a lot of time on the phone talking to your family. This is the case for Premitha. His family lives in the diplomatic area of Colombo as does the Foreign Minister who was assassinated over the weekend as he was going into his home. He was killed by two snipers who made a hole in a wall and fired six shots. He was hit in the head and heart. It's been upsetting for Sri Lanka. It's been upsetting to Premi. This piece of news would have never seemed important before, but because it's now been personalized by my friendship with Premi, I am sad for his country. Learn more about it.

In other news... Jai Hind to my Indian friends. Today is India's independence day.

And finally, if you thought my surfing was good - check this out!

Of course we read about this and it would not have jumped out at us in such a big way except that we know that you have house mates and new friends from Sri Lanka.
We, too, are sad for his country.
